My mom recently left for a long trip, and I wanted to make her a small “farewell” gift that she could take with her. I wanted it to be something practical, and I remembered seeing this tutorial for a quilted kindle case awhile back. My mom recently invested in an Ipad, and I knew she’d be taking it with her, so I modified the kindle pattern (simply by getting measurements for the Ipad (thanks Liv!) and adjusting the size from the tutorial).
I used scraps from my Innocent Crush quilts, and cut 2.5 inch squares that I sewed together for a scrappy look. I also decided to use a magnetic snap for the closure. And, I found that the instructions for the tutorial were great, and even suggested a few extra stitches at the top to keep the flap from flapping up!
This was such a fun little project, I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for something to cover!
I’m also linking up with Canoe Ridge Creations today– check out all the cool modern sewing projects over there if you have a chance!
Love it Natalie! You are very talented and I really like how you put this cover together.
I really like this! I love the simple squares and the gorgeous AMH fabric!
I love it! I’m definitely going to check out that tutorial and make one for my iPad. Your mom must be thrilled.
What a fun little pouch!
Gorgeous! I wish my husband would let me make one for his IPad. I don’t think I can convince him that a quilted cover is manly.
I love it! Your mom will think of you every time she sees it 🙂
Can’t wait to cut up my Crush…eventually!!
Such a cute gift! I bet your mom loves it.
I LOVE this! I think I’ll be modifying it for my laptop. Gorgeous!

I didn’t know I needed a cover for my ipad but now I’ve seen this, I clearly do! And spookily enough, I’ve got the lime green magnetic cover that you’ve got too!
Awesome, can you share the pattern on this?
My questions are: are you able to share the pattern please? And can you put your iPad/tablet through airport checkpoints without taking it out of the cover?
i want one! making any??
Did you take measurements of the fabrics? Is it lined? Did you use batting on it? VERY cute andI want to make myself one!
Ive used the tutorial for the Kindle covers sever times! I love it. This turned out great! Do you happen to have the measurements of the final pieces? I don’t have a regular sized iPad and need to make one for a friend and I don’t know the measurements!
