This morning after brunch I dragged Simon and J out onto our porch to take a few photos of some finished quilts I’m planning to share with you all soon! (The photo above is of Simon chewing on a stick on the porch– aside from sleeping, I think this is his favorite pastime). I was so excited to get back out on the porch, because it’s really unusable in the winter, but in the spring, summer, and fall we like to spend as much time as possible out there.
It had been covered in mountains of snow until late this week, when almost all of it melted. So here’s a shot of the porch this morning, around 11 or 12:
And just 5 hours later– we’re buried under snow again!
Don’t worry, I have some bright and cheerful finished quilt pics to brighten things up that I’m planning to share soon, so stay tuned!
Natalie,
I just discovered your blog and found your bits of info about yourself very interesting! especially how you are doing your PHD work on gender body image, etc. I was so GLAD to see that you are focusing on older women and their body image and how this effects their health and happiness. I am a retired psychotherapist and also qualify as an “older woman” LOL! I worked most of my career at our local rape crisis center and dealt quite a bit with body image and gender issues as you might imagine! I am amazed with what has happened to my body, I keep thinking I’m still 25 and then look at my body and it says, no, baby, you’re 61 and good luck with all these sags and bags! I can see how this might really depress me if I didn’t tell myself I am who I am on the inside, the outside is just the book cover, and some of the best books have some pretty worn out covers! would love to hear more about your adventure into this issue, I’d be glad to answer questions too regarding older women and body image, etc.
keep up the good work! BTW, your quilts are beautiful!
I quilt also.
Ug! How discouraging! hahaha. I am waiting for spring too, although I still have snow on the ground, just starting to see the grass peak through. Spring has to come sometime right???
Oh my, this makes me feel guilty about the weather here today…
Same weather here ….. Good thing quilting is an indoor activity.
Molly,
I agree! There’s nothing I’d rather do than quilt on a snowy day 🙂
