Today is giveaway day at Sew Mama Sew! Twice a year Sew Mama Sew hosts a coordinated giveaway, where anyone who is hosting a giveaway on their blog can link up, creating a huge selection of blogs to visit to enter to win all sorts of good stuff! If you’re visiting from Sew Mama Sew, thanks for stopping by!
I thought I’d share some of my *favorite* goodies today. Nothing gets me more excited to sew than a gorgeous pile of fabric, and my absolute favorites are from Denyse Schmidt. She was the first quilt and fabric designer I recognized by name when I took up sewing a couple of years ago, and I love pretty much every fabric she has designed! Today I’m giving away a 2 charm squares of each print pictured here, including fabric from her lines of Flea Market Fancy (the original!), Katie Jump Rope, and Hope Valley. I made sure there were a range of colors so any sort of project or color scheme would be possible with these prints!
One possibility would be to make a quilt like my Flea Market Fancy Colorful Squares. Pairing prints with coordinating or complementary solids can stretch them quite a bit, and can highlight your favorite prints!
To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment! And if you have a favorite fabric designer or line of fabrics you’d recommend, I’d love to know what it is! This giveaway is open to everyone, and I will ship internationally.

As I mentioned yesterday, I had sooo much fun at the sewing summit. One of the great things about it was all of the swag I got to bring home! I’m looking forward to trying some new thread, batting, and using other goodies I got! At the end of Jeni’s class on fabric selection, we were lucky enough to all get Kona color cards. These are so useful when trying to find solids for a project, and I love the one I already have. Now that I have 2, I thought this would be the perfect thing to share with one of you! After all, I can’t talk about how great the sewing summit was without sharing something with you all!
I found the Kona color card to be VERY helpful when working on a project such as this:
Matching all of those solid fabrics is SO much easier when you can see an actual swatch in person!
So, if you’d like to enter to win the Kona color card, leave me a comment on this post, and introduce yourself (that is, if I don’t already know you!). Say hi, tell me where you’re from or if you have a blog, or any little thing. I had so much fun meeting up with my bloggy friends this past weekend that I’d like to keep it going and get to know you all a little more!
I’ll leave the comments open until Sunday at 1pm, at which time I’ll pick a winner.

First up, we have a winner! Thanks so much to everyone who entered the giveaway! I consulted random.org, who informed me that our winner is number 30– Kristie from OCD! Kristie, I’ll be sending you an email to arrange to send your fabric.
I also finished up a quilt this week. This quilt is a gift, and will be given to its new owner this weekend! I made up the design as I went and kept things simple.
The funny thing is, in this quilt I used some of the fabric that I got in a giveaway from Kristie earlier this year! I was planning to post about the quilt this week, and when I realized the coincidence, that I was posting about the quilt I made with some of the fabric I won from Kristie, and she was the winner of my giveaway, I had to put it all together in the same post.
Earlier this week, Kristie posted about a new project she is working on using her stash of Little Folks fabric, and I commented that I was excited to see her project as it progressed because I just picked up some of this fabric myself, and I am looking forward to using it! Kristie jokingly replied that if I didn’t have any Little Folks, she was going to see if she could bribe me with her scraps so she would win the giveaway. But no bribing necessary– random.org did the choosing for me, and it just seemed too funny that Kristie ended up winning! So, I couldn’t help but think, what goes around comes around! I guess the moral of the story is that it’s good to have a giveaway once in a while and share the fabric love, because you never know when you’ll get some in return!

Today is my birthday! And to celebrate, I though I’d share the love by giving away some of my favorite fabric! I love hearing from all my blog readers, and I wanted to show my appreciation today!
I’ve had so much fun working on my Flea Market Fancy quilt, and I wanted to give someone else a shot at playing with some of these gorgeous fabrics, so I raided my stash and came up with this selection of charm squares from my one of my favorite fabric designers, Denyse Schmidt!
This includes 2 charm squares of each print pictured here, including fabric from her lines of Flea Market Fancy, Katie Jump Rope, and Hope Valley. I made sure there were a range of colors so any sort of project or color scheme would be possible with these prints!
The giveaway will be open until this Thursday night, and I’ll announce the winner on Friday. To enter, leave me a comment and tell me your favorite or funniest or best birthday story! Or, if your birthdays have been uneventful, let me know who your fabric designer is and what fabric lines you have your eye on this summer!

Thank you so much to everyone who commented on my 100th post! I wish I had fabric to send to each and every one of you. I also really appreciate hearing about all of the lessons you’ve learned– it was humbling, and reminded me that there’s a lot I have to learn about sewing and quilting, too.
And our winner is…
Comment 19, Lee from Freshly Pieced! Lee has an amazing blog, and has made some of my favorite quilts (this one in particular motivated me to start my own single girl quilt!), you all should check out her blog if you haven’t already! Congrats Lee, I’ll contact you soon to arrange sending you the fabric!

This very entry marks my 100th post here at Greenleaf Goods! I’m so thrilled that I made it this far– I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I started blogging, and this really came about because I wanted to share what I was working on with family and friends. Now I’ve found I’m becoming part of an online crafting community, and I couldn’t be happier with all of the inspiration and support I’ve received from you all! As a way of saying thanks, I decided to mark the occasion with my very first giveaway!
When I began sewing about a year ago, one of the first designers I fell in love with was Heather Bailey— I’ve loved nearly everything she’s released, and I stocked up on her Freshcut line of fabric, as it is now out of print! I still love all of these prints, and have used them in a number of quilts and projects. (like this. and this. and this. I also quickly decided that the jellybean print from the freshcut line was perfect for bindings, and so I used it as a binding again and again and again. I wanted to share the love, so I’m offering up a quarter of a yard of the following prints, from the Freshcut and Pop Garden lines:
As well as a half yard each of the Jellybean print in green and pink. This should be enough to bind your next quilt (or two), if you choose to use it that way!
Here’s the catch: I am amazed at how much I’ve been able to learn from tutorials and instructions and advice I’ve found online since beginning to quilt, and I love when people share their own insights! If you’d like to enter the drawing for the fabric, leave me a comment and let me know something you’ve learned lately– it can be about sewing or quilting, or life in general– all information is welcome! And, I plan to follow up with a few posts about things I’ve learned lately, so stay tuned for those!
The giveaway will remain open until Thursday night, and I’ll announce the winner on Friday!
