The end of May is coming up a little sooner than I realized, so I had to prioritize my blocks and quilting for the do. Good Stitches quilting bee so I can finish things up by the end of the month!
This month, Melanie designed a quilt with the inspiration of a box of crayons, and each member of the group chose a color to make their blocks. I went with green– one of my favorite colors– and designed a couple of blocks. But… when I went to make them, I accidentally cut one of my pieces incorrectly. Does this ever happen to you guys? I was frustrated for a minute, and thought I might need to start over– but I didn’t want to waste the pieces I had already sewn– so I decided to loosen up and make the blocks in an improv style using the pieces I had already created. I realized my greens were mostly leaning toward the yellow, and the blocks were really supposed to be more primary colors, so I used some kona cotton in grass I had in my stash to brighten them up and add to the saturated green look.
I also have been busy finishing up the quilt I designed the previous month– I got it quilted, and I’m planning to finish the binding up this weekend. I’ll have some photos to share next week! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
